Roobedo

In just five short years, Roobedo has firmly established itself as a favourite Scottish brand and designer Ruth Morris is now gaining an international following.

After graduating from the Scottish School of Textiles, Ruth used her early career to experiment with her own hand-made designs. It was during a stint working in a clothes shop that Ruth decided to start her own label. So many people asked her where her own clothes were from that she quickly realised there was a market for her elegant and streamlined look.

Roobedo was born in January 2000 and started life as a small collection available only on-line and by mail-order. However it was not long until orders began flocking in for Morris’s simple classic designs.
Catering for women between ages 20 and 70, Morris’s versatile clothing collection is inspired by Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes – particularly those of the Outer Hebrides. Ruth spent many childhood holidays in the Outer Hebrides and has used the colours and textures as inspiration for her collections ever since.

Harris Tweed has become the trademark of Roobedo and Ruth now uses the fabric somewhere in every collection. The depth and variety of colour in Harris Tweed from subtle greys to deep pinks means that it appeals to most of her customers whatever there age or style.
She can add her own individual touch to the traditional fabric by using different cuts and more contemporary lines. As she does not follow mainstream fashion, Morris’s ‘simple is beautiful’ philosophy helps to achieve her aim of effortless elegance and originality.
